About Me

Hello! Thank you for viewing my Website.
My name is Maya Lior. I was born (1986) and raised in Israel to an American mother and an Israeli father. I spent most of my youth in a small town named Maccabbim. In 2001 my family and I moved to the states where I spent a year in Chandler, AZ. During my stay I became familiar with new cultural backgrounds and studied art at Corona Del Sol High School. Upon my return to Israel I entered into an International Comic Festival and won an award of excellence.
My exposure to America has made me realize that the only way for me to get ahead and develop my skills in animation and art was for me to return to the United States. I made my final move to America in 2003 where I lived in Brookline, MA and attended Brookline High School. I won a Chobee Hoy award for the best abstract painting and was selected to screen my first animated film at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline, MA.
I continued my studies at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston MA and graduated, May 2008 with a BFA in Animation. During my studies At Mass Art I spent a semester abroad in England, spring of 2007 at the University College for the Creative Arts, Surrey, Farnham. During my stay in England I was instructed by Roger Noake and created my first major short animation film “Old Timer”. Upon my return to Mass Art I focused on my new animation short, “The Border”, which was accepted to several film festivals in the United States.
I am hoping to create movies that would appeal to audiences of all ages and cultural backgrounds and mostly desire to contribute and inspire other young artist who share the same passion.
